Fauna
In the Nockberge can be found a rich fauna, the result of the extinction processes and re-introductions over the last hundreds and thousands of years. It is the product of adaptations both to nature and to humans. The protected area is home to numerous mammals, birds, amphibians, fish and insects. Each individual habitat is occupied.
As you make your way through the Nockberge, we wish you many enjoyable encounters with its inhabitants great and small. You can look forward to sightings of shy marmots, the graceful beauty of butterflies, the chirping of numerous bird species, and the tracks of animals living in the woods.
Please do bear in mind that even the smallest of creatures is to be treated with respect. Feeding the animals is generally prohibited.
