The natural and cultural landscape of the Nockberge mountains is diverse and uniquely constituted.  From a geological point of view, the Carinthian Nockberge mountains are among the most interesting and oldest upland formations in Europe.  For generations there has been mining in this area.  Just as steeped in tradition are the many customs and legends of the region.  Apart from the rich culture the Nockberge are characterised by a wide range of plants and animals.
